China Tour: Day 4, Central Theatre in Taicang, Souzhou
Writing this, I’m just about thawed out from one of the coldest gigs I’ve done in a while! Tonight we played at the very grand and very cold Central Theatre in Taicang, Souzhou. The theatre was well filled and, for the 2nd night in a row, with a broad range of age. It seems so far that children come to enjoy classical music a lot more often than in England – and that concerts are slightly less silent occasions for the audience! Another standing ovation and plenty of clapping along to the Radetsky March almost made up for my fingers and arms nearly dropping off! An hour and a half drive back to our hotel and we had dinner at the same restaurant as for lunch, this time with unusual table decorations! A yummy end to a long day (not the goldfish, the food – see photo).
