China Tour: Day 3, Shanghai City Theater

Today was a lot calmer. Breakfast was a surprise, with food on offer from noodles, to donkey meat and fungus & fruit cocktail. I’m afraid I plumped for yoghurt, melon and toast, avoiding the black pickled egg. We spent the morning relaxing – much needed after yesterday’s craziness. By midday I was craving cheese and am ashamed that I bowed to the stereotype and bought a pizza for lunch! Felt so much better after though!

Today’s concert was at the Shanghai City Theater. The afternoon rehearsal was quite intense but we were rewarded with great applause and a standing ovation in the evening concert. Chinese Music and the Radetsky March went down a treat as our encore!

Afterwards, we were rewarded with another beautiful Chinese meal, which we gratefully wolfed down. For those that know me, even a little, I did very well to last til 10:30pm without snapping anyone’s head off!

  1. Your blog yesterday says ‘It seems to be a common preconception here that Westerners only eat MacDonalds and we have already frequently been met with genuine pleasure at wanting to experience real Chinese food and culture’.

EPIFAIL. You are a total western fruity yoghurt pizza loving tourist. Glad you can accept it so early on.

    More photos please.
