China Tour: Day 14, Nanchang

I began today in the worst mood possible having only slept an hour in the fridge that was our room, even with a jumper and slippers on. The airport was rammed with people travelling to their New Year’s festival destinations and I was one of the last people to board the plane because the airport staff were so slow to process everyone, making me nearly 15 minutes late onto the plane. Things were not looking good.

Thankfully our current hotel is nicer and we were able to catch up on a little sleep before the afternoon rehearsal and concert. The evening made up for the bad start with our best audience so far. The concert was a charity concert at the Jiangxi Performing Arts Centre, Nanchang and some people there had been given tickets to come rather than having to pay for them. They really seemed to appreciate being there. It made such a difference to the whole concert: they clapped along, we felt re-energised and they kept calling for more and more encores. They absolutely loved the singers Eleanor and Simon who delivered amazing solos as always. At the end of the concert lots of people wanted our photos and were waving at us. What a lovely way to spend an evening!

And so to bed. With many hours to catch up on!
