China Tour: Day 13, Chengdu

It sounds like we missed a lovely breakfast this morning. It had toast, bacon and eggs and cereal. But we needed a lie in and that’s usually far more appetising than getting up for more noodles and rice!

Today’s concert was held at the Xiangcheng Theatre in Chengdu. The theatre was in the middle of their cultural exchange centre alongside extravagant temples and coffee houses. The concert was to be at a more child-friendly 4pm so we shortened our programme and included a lot more audience hand-clapping participation. Playing the William Tell Overture with the audience clapping half a beat out of time was quite a challenge! The waltzes go down very well here and of course the Chinese hit Great news from Beijing.

We then had a 2 hour drive back to Chengdu and an early night in anticipation of another early flight tomorrow.
