A cheesy start to the year
I thought I’d share my rather unique first gig of the year with you. Tunbridge Wells High Street welcomed the opening of indie artisan shop Fromage & French on the 9th January. I was honoured to be asked to provide background music for the private opening on the 6th and got a sneak preview of what’s on offer!
The shop stocks some amazing fromages, alongside charcuterie, French mustards, conserves, confit de canard, French wines, biscuits and chocolate for cheese lovers and francophiles alike. The area that brought the biggest smile to my face was the “holiday section” with shelves stocked full of products us Brits bring back from L’Hexagone.
Owners, Gaëlle Coyle and Belinda Raitt hope to transform the lower end of town into an independent food shopper’s heaven, bringing a taste of France to the High Street, sourcing their produce from smaller, independent suppliers where possible. It was great to see other local foodies and prominent business owners there, giving their support and of course enjoying a glass of wine and trying out the new shop’s wares.
