New album release for Standard Lamps

Tonight welcomes the second album release of one of my favourite Tunbridge Wellian bands. The Standard Lamps are a rocking blues band with influences of the Who and the Jam. They’re fantastic musicians who totally deserve the billings they’ve secured in the last couple of years: supporting Roger Daltrey at Shepherd’s Bush Empire and the Who’s Hits tour (2014), playing Hyde Park British Summer Time and supporting the Bluestones 20th anniversary tour (2015). And this year looks set to be another great one for them.

The album follows their debut Sell everything you own (2014) and Mono EP (2015) and showcases the band’s great songwriting and energy. It’s an ode to growing up, living your dreams… or not, and a whole load of fun in between. Along with the Ackerleys, who also feature on the album, I was really excited to be asked to lay down some string parts. Check out Dim and dismal and 12:15 to hear me fiddling away!

Tonight the band celebrates the release of Long lost love at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells, NME’s Best Small Venue (2012). With support from the Gallerys and the Ackerleys it’s set to be a great evening of top notch original music. If you’ve never heard them live, I strongly recommend it. In the meantime Long lost love can be bought here Enjoy!

The Standard Lamps hold their London launch on the 27th April at The Islington in London
